“In order to assist a young cancer patient (who had received a fatal prognosis) fulfill his dying dream of capturing a 100 kg (220 pounds) wild boar with his hounds, a group of hunters banded together.
A large buck kangaroo collided with one of the highly trained dogs while chasing some pigs by scent. The dog was wrestled to the ground by its protective gear (boars have sharp tusks similar to knives), and the owner was terrified that either his dog or the kangaroo would be injured and rushed in to save both parties.
You can see the dog attempting to escape the kangaroo, which he clearly does not want anything to do with. Once the person is within striking distance, the huge buck kangaroo releases the dog but then goes in to attempt to attack the human.
A kangaroo kick to the stomach might easily dismember the owner, so he backs off a number of times to give the kangaroo some breathing room, but he ultimately changes the roo’s mind with a punch to the snout after it continues moving closer.
Because of the punch, the roo is forced to pause and consider the situation, allowing the owner and dog enough time to withdraw from the large wild animal and let it hop off, maybe wondering what had just happened to him and his pet dog.
We all chuckled at the silliness of the scenario as well as at how unlucky the dog and kangaroo were to be involved. Our 6 foot 7-inch acquaintance had no ill will toward the kangaroo, but he felt compelled to intervene to prevent a worsening of the situation.
Young Kailem tragically passed away two days ago after a courageous fight with illness, and this treasure hunt is one of the many precious memories he leaves behind for his family and friends.
Making a dog interact with a wild animal was never our purpose, and we were relieved that no livestock was harmed as a result of the misadventure,” Greg Bloom.
