A bear attacked a guy and his dog as they were jogging in a park in Canada. The dog fought the animal off and saved the man’s life…
He’s really fortunate to have a friend like him in his life…
During a run in the park, a bear approached the guy and his dog, and the dog bravely fought it off.
In Forest for the World Provincial Park in Prince George, British Columbia, Reid Roberts, 46, and his dog Pacer were jogging when they disturbed a mother black bear and her two cubs who were hiding in the surrounding bushes.․․
On Facebook, he posted, “She came out straight immediately in attack mode.”. “She had her head down and her eyes fixed on me from the start.”
Two years before, Roberts had a similar experience with a bear, but the animal was able to “bluff” an assault since it was much closer…
“This one came too close,” he said. ” He stated, “She had no alternative for a bluff.” At the moment when I knew she wasn’t going to stop, I had the thought,’ she is going to attack. ‘”
After Roberts wrote that he was certain he couldn’t get away without a battle, the bear charged at him.
As I backed up, I was shouting and flailing my hands frantically. Because I didn’t want to give up, I knew I had to keep going… On the trail: “I don’t know how I ended up on the ground, but I recall her slapping at me as dogs do when playing with another dog,” the man wrote. “While I was lying on my back, I simply began kicking at her.”
Pacer leaped into action immediately, barking and attacking the bear, which was only briefly distracted by the border collie…
He sought to hide in a group of willows but was attacked a second time by the woman, who “went at him for barely a second to drive him off then soon turned and came at me again,” wrote Roberts.
This is not good. I got fortunate once. But…,” Roberts recalled thinking at the time. As quickly as she bit at me, Pacer was on her, nipping at her too.․․
As Roberts lay bleeding from a hand-wound, Pacer battled the bear again, leading it down the path and away from him.
In the end, Roberts called 911 and went to a parking lot with a buddy after attempting to climb a tree with a piece of his shirt wrapped around his hand.
While walking along the way the bear took after Pacer, he writes, “I yelled out for Pacer but could not locate him. I had to continue down this path.” He was unable to find him.
Upon arriving in the parking lot, Roberts was approached by two persons who inquired about his well-being.
“They inquired as to whether or not I was OK. My answer was “no,” but I still need to locate my dog. As soon as Pacer had been located, he wrote, “I didn’t want to leave till the ambulance arrived.”
In a blog post, Roberts said that things started to go foggy as soon as Roberts’ buddy and emergency services arrived.
At a nearby hospital, Roberts was given 16 stitches in his hand as a result of his injuries. According to his journal, he also had “small claw marks” on his stomach and arm.
Roberts writes, “My shorts were torn to bits, but not my shirt.”
According to officials, the bear was put down. A wildlife sanctuary was able to safely transport the two cubs after they had been tranquilized…
It wasn’t until more than a mile away from Roberts’ friend’s house that Pacer was found uninjured.
Pacer is fantastic and genuinely my hero,” said Roberts in an email, saying that the dog often goes ahead as a lookout for moose or bears while the couple is out on the route and that Pacer is a great companion. When I go for a run, “I never do it alone.”
Roberts insisted that the incident would not stop him from enjoying the outdoors.
As for running trails by myself again, the answer is yes. He wrote, “As soon as I can.” “Next time, I’m going to be louder and keep Pacer in the lead,” I promised myself.
