After spending 200 days at an Orlando shelter, a senior dog finds a new home… Watch the video…

One of our senior dogs, who had spent almost seven months at a shelter, has finally found his permanent home!

Cano, a 9-year-old pit bull mix, was featured in the local news in the Orlando, Florida region after he was announced as the animal shelter’s longest-tenured resident after becoming the agency’s longest-tenured resident.․․

An heartwarming video was shared to the adoption and fostering agency’s Facebook page on Saturday, informing the public that Cano had been adopted after months of searching.․․

The commentary for the video noted that Cano had been featured in a number of earlier social media postings as well as in the press, and it said that he was “a celebrity in his own right.”

“spent more time in our offices than any other dog in our care and was the most socialized. He even has his own billboard campaign to promote himself! Despite this, no one seemed to be interested. We were baffled as to why this was happening because we had tried everything.”

This was followed by the words, “We are so very delighted to report that Cano has been adopted by the Rodriguez family.” “They informed us that they had seen his billboard a number of times and that they had seen some of the posters.․․

However, it was a news report that broke on Friday that really sealed the deal for them.”

“They recognized him as a nice older dog that was ready to be loved. They couldn’t face the notion of Cano being without a place to call home for another day. As a result, they welcomed him into their homes “The caption went on to say more.

“Our volunteers and employees all agreed that it seemed as though he was aware of what was going on. It felt as though a weight had been lifted from everyone’s shoulders the moment he was taken out.

Cano was carefully put into the vehicle belonging to his new family, and he just leaned into their affection. He relaxed, closed his eyes, and took a deep breath.

He had finally arrived at the pinnacle of bliss. He had finally arrived at his destination.”

“Cano, you will be missed by all of us here at OCAS. You will always have a special place in our hearts “The post came to an end.

Cano, a senior dog who the shelter thought would flourish best as the sole animal in the family, was featured in a previous piece in August, demonstrating exactly how long the odds were against him being adopted.

Those who commented on the article said that they were looking to find a “unicorn adopter/unicorn family.”

However, while the animal shelter is overjoyed that Cano has now found his unicorn family, local reports claim that they are still overwhelmed, with approximately 35 dogs in need of immediate adoption at the time of writing.

Click Orlando was informed by an official with Orange County Animal Services that there are presently 174 dogs in the shelter’s care and that the facility has received 109 additional canines in the previous week. Thirty-four of the dogs were surrendered to the shelter by their owners.

When the county’s animal services department has needed help in the past, they’ve turned to the community for help. “We’ve never been let down,” Diane Summers, manager of Orange County Animal Services, said in a press release acquired.

As we appeal for adopters to come forward for these available canines, we expect to be able to depend on their help once again.
