According to recent research, cats and dogs have been diagnosed with coronavirus after catching it from people and then suffering from it.
The alpha version of the illness, which was responsible for a devastating outbreak of Covid last winter that spread fast throughout the globe, has now been discovered in dogs, according to the CDC.

Dr. Luca Ferasin, a cardiologist who works at The Ralph Veterinary Referral Centre in Marlow, Bucks, who is the research’s principal author, said:
“Our study describes the first instances of cats and dogs afflicted by the Covid-19 alpha variant.”
It draws attention to the possibility that companion animals might get infected with SARS-CoV-2 for the first time.”
It was discovered that the variety, also known as B.1.1.7, had spread significantly over Kent toward the end of 2020 and that it had expanded rapidly throughout the United Kingdom in January of this year.
Because of the strain’s increased potency, it outgrew all previous versions of Covid in a short period of time.

“However, Covid-19 infection in pets continues to be a rather uncommon illness, and based on our data, it seems that the virus is transmitted from people to pets rather than the other way around.”
