There have been several evacuations since September 19th, when the eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano began.
As a result, officials using drones to monitor the situation discovered that some dogs had been left stranded on a tiny piece of land with no means to get out without risking their own safety.
For many days, local firms Volcanic Life and Ticom Soluciones SL fed the trapped puppies using drones as they worked on a rescue plan.
Drones are the only plausible option for a potential rescue since helicopters are unable to fly above the volcano’s ash and pyroclasts.
They even planned to send a cargo drone with a remote-controlled net so that they could catch the dogs one by one and transport them out over the lava, but the idea was scrapped.
According to the CEO of Aerocámaras, Jaime Pereira, the dogs vanished from the company’s radar systems on Wednesday.
He told the Spanish daily El Pas, “By yesterday we could see nothing.”
“However, we wanted to be absolutely certain.
There are traces where the dogs were shown in the photographs today, and we’ve verified this with police, so we know they were there.”

“Be strong La Palma, the dogs are OK” is the message on a white banner identified by frequent drones flying over the region that is signed by a mystery “A-Team.”
He claimed, “The flag is truly there, merely inverted by the wind, and we observed human tracks, so we realize the dogs had been gone for several days,” per Mr. Pereira…
It was clear to us that something was wrong when we investigated all the possible hiding places and found nothing.
Seeing the dogs is all that’s left for us to be sure they’re the ones we’ve been searching for.
“Anonymous animalists” seem to have infiltrated the area and rescued the dogs, according to a video obtained by email from the organization Leales, which had earlier requested that the drone firm deploy huge cargo drones to retrieve the pets.
A drone was used to capture the footage in the anonymous video.
Unknown rescuers may have used thermal imaging from a drone to find a “cold” way across the lava field, according to Leales.
The footage was sent to Leales in a short email signed by the A-Team, he claimed.
Dogs that have not been claimed by their rightful owners may have been illegally taken from the region by those who journeyed there to retrieve them if they were in fact taken…

According to the cited source, “it was prohibited” to enter the exclusion zone at the time of the incident.
