Approximately 2.45 p.m. on Wednesday, the lurcher was tossed from a moving vehicle on the A52 in Radcliffe-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire, according to police. Mr. Chris Hallam said that he was driving down the road when he saw something “flying in the air.”
Mr․ Hallam came to a complete stop in his car and dashed over to assist the dog that was laying by the side of the road.․․
He loaded the animal into the trunk of his vehicle and drove him to Minster Veterinary Clinic in Nottingham to be treated.․․
However, owing to the injuries sustained by the dog, who was named Ice, he had to be put down.․․
“It was the most awful thing I have ever seen, and the poor animal didn’t stand a chance,” Mr Hallam added.
“I was going down the road when I observed something soaring through the air as I passed an old farmer-type pickup vehicle coming the other way.
The two other men who stopped to help stated they had heard a disturbance in the backseat immediately as it occurred, so I drove into a lay-by and raced over to assist them.
Consequently, we are rather certain that it was thrown on purpose, and we cannot comprehend why somebody would want to do such a cruel thing to a dog.
“The sounds he was making was awful, and he was clearly in distress, so I rushed him to the RSPCA right away.”
They told me they couldn’t do anything, so I brought him to the vet, where he was drugged and placed on a stretcher as soon as I got out of my vehicle.
“I left to work and later received a phone call from my mother informing me that it had not survived.
The doctor said that he had suffered fractured bones in his pelvis as well as internal ailments that couldn’t be repaired.
“I was heartbroken because if he had survived, we would have provided him with a lifelong home.”
It was a strange situation because when the veterinarians called up the dog’s name, they just responded, ‘Oh, I’ve sold that dog,’ which we didn’t understand.”
“I have a strong suspicion that this was done on purpose. If there had been an accident, you would have realized something was wrong and would have pulled over.
If you were to leave him dying on the side of the road, you would not do so.
As a spokesperson for the veterinarians said, “He was really afraid and in a lot of discomfort.”
‘We had to sedate him while he was still in the back of the vehicle before we could pull him out to check him, and it was only then that the internal injuries were discovered by the scans,’ says the doctor.
Investigators from Nottinghamshire Police have opened an inquiry and are requesting that anybody with information get in contact.
“Police were regrettably made aware that a member of the public had been driving along the A52, Whatton, at about 2.45pm on Wednesday (20 October 2021) when they noticed a dog falling from a car,” said Inspector Rob Lawton.
As a result, the car failed to stop, and an onlooker intervened and rescued the gravely wounded dog.
After being transported to a nearby veterinarian, I was profoundly heartbroken to learn that the dog had succumbed to his injuries.
“The wellbeing of our animals is something that I take very seriously and is really important to me personally.” In the same way, I am aware of the importance of the Rushcliffe community.
“While the car has not yet been located, we will of course take into consideration any fresh or additional information that is presented to us.”
As a dog owner with three dogs, I realize how vital it is to grasp the duties that come with caring for and having pets, particularly the need of keeping your dog safe.․․
It is with great gratitude that I acknowledge the efforts of a concerned citizen and a member of the veterinary team who attempted to rescue the puppy.․․
