The only way to cure the situation was via a dramatic approach — the infected eyes were surgically removed altogether…
The animal responded nicely to the anesthesia and recovered fast thereafter. Judy immediately adapted to living in the dark and soon reverted to the behavior that was accustomed to her as a normal canine companion…
Even while the hardship of losing eyesight and adapting to a new lifestyle first made it fearful of humans, this has now changed.
Judy is no longer fearful of strangers, and she has re-learned to trust others as a result of the warmth and care shown by the volunteers…
Judy’s search for new owners was a particularly memorable experience. The dog demands more attention as well as unending love and care from its owners. Judy was adopted by this particular family – Carol and Andrew Stoneley, who fell in love with the dog at first sight and were not deterred by the obstacles connected with Judy’s loss of eyesight in the process.
The couple just lost their cat, who had been a part of their family for 14 years, and felt compelled to adopt a new animal to care for. They promptly removed Judy from the shelter and transported her to her new home with them…
Judy rapidly became acclimated to her new home, and she particularly enjoys running about and frolicking in the garden. When you look at this happy and friendly dog, it’s hard to think that someone just put it in the garbage.
