According to recent research, Labrador retrievers have gained the greatest weight of any dog breed since the start of England’s first coronavirus lockdown earlier this year, more than any other breed.
According to a poll conducted by Dog-Friendly Retreats, a prominent dog-friendly vacation company that began in 2018, over 1,700 dog owners in the United Kingdom gained an average of 2.7 pounds during the current coronavirus epidemic and the ensuing quarantine.
Labradors acquired the highest weight out of the individual dog breeds studied since the outbreak of the epidemic, gaining an average of 4.1 pounds.
Next on the list of typical weight gainers is the French bulldog (3.8 pounds), followed by the Dachshund (3.2 pounds), Beagle (2.1 pounds), and lastly German shepherds (2.2 pounds) (2 lbs.)…
Owners of overweight dogs were questioned why they felt their pets had acquired weight as part of a study conducted by a third party. More than half of respondents (52 percent) said that spending more time with their pets resulted in overfeeding them, and 32% stated that the number of walks they took their dog had decreased as a result of this.
