After spending years in animal shelters, this dog has finally found a home where he will be loved forever…
Charlize, a 4-year-old puppy from the Delaware SPCA in Newark, Delaware, was adopted by Anna and Matthew on Friday afternoon. As reported by WTXF, Charlize was moved to the Delaware SPCA from another shelter in July 2018 and has now spent a total of 866 days in the shelter waiting to be adopted. Overall, between the Delaware SPCA and the other shelters where Charlize was housed, the dog spent a total of 990 days in search of a new home before being adopted…
After purchasing a house, Anna and her husband expressed their desire to add a pet to their family — and they agreed that Charlize was definitely adorable!
“We were unaware of how long she had been at the shelter until we met her, and we were baffled as to how she had gotten there in the first place. She was such a sweetheart the whole time we were there meeting her, and we enjoyed every minute of it ” she said. “And now, knowing how happy she is to be back home and surrounded by people who adore her, makes us ecstatic…”
In an interview with WTXF, the new dog owners said that Charlize is adjusting well to her new surroundings and that she has even become used to sleeping in her people’s beds…
“I am relieved that she seems to have already placed her faith in us. It’s as though we’ve known her for a lot longer than we really have “Anna expressed herself…
The Delaware SPCA held a celebration on Friday to honor all of the animals that had just been adopted, but they paid particular attention to Charlize, who had been there for the longest time and needed a new home…
“We have been quite busy putting our dogs and cats in loving forever homes!” said the organization. It was written in the Facebook post, which included a photo gallery of all of the adopted dogs. Despite the fact that we are always happy for all of our families and wonderful animals, we are particularly happy for Charlize, our longest-staying resident dog, who was adopted today after spending 866 days with us and will spend the holidays with a family of her very own!
“We wish Charlize and her new family the best of success, as well as all of our adopters and fortunate animals!”
