A Puerto Rican puppy rescued from the streets of Puerto Rico was transported to its new home by Henry and Elias Friedman for the first time in May 2018. The 32-year-old founder of The Dogist planned to journey from New York to Southern California with a camera in hand to document the rescue dog’s “freedom trek.”
Following his departure from the advertising industry at the age of 30, Henry found himself living in a custom-built van. After Finn’s adoptive family decided not to take the dog home, Henry decided to take the dog in.
In the truest meaning of the term, it was a test drive.” Before this, I’d been living in a van for a few months at a period. As a companion, he was wonderful Apparently, Henry Friedman believes so. “We’ve come within an arm’s length” of each other in the previous few minutes…
@KeepingFinn is the name of Henry’s prominent Instagram account, wherein he shares images of his and Finn’s adventures, as well as conversations with some of their 196,000 followers.
Finn, a 50-pound, 2-year-old “super mutt,” has improved Henry’s #vanlife experience. Until now, I had never felt like an outsider in any situation…
It was Henry’s desire to utilize his social media platform in an even more meaningful manner that led him to launch a rescue animal initiative in August 2019. Henry and Finn’s adventures often take them to a local animal shelter, which they document in their blog posts every month.
This is what Henry has to say about the importance of disclosing successful rescues: When it comes to animal shelters, “most people just know the one where they got their dog or the one across the street.” With this, we can have such a powerful effect everywhere we go.”
Henry and Finn have raised over $150,000 on Patreon in the past year. On a regular basis, Henry and Finn organize free vaccination clinics, spay and neuter clinics, and pet food drives. A total of 60 dogs have been adopted as a result of the couple’s efforts to foster pets in their van as they await new homes.
Henry says, “We take our dogs on road vacations, van living, and other important activities.” The quality of my work is unquestionable.
More than 150 Puerto Rican rescue canines just arrived in the United States from Wings of Rescue and The Sato Project. That excursion included Henry and Finn. Tito’s and KeepingFinn each gave $10,000 to help make this trip feasible.
There are now two pups on separate trips from the rest of the pack. A few days before their new owners arrive on the west coast, the two adoptable canines are following the couple on a variety of scenic outings and animal rescue missions.
His adventure has come full circle after spending three years living in a van, something he had initially planned to do for only a few months. For Finn’s return from the east coast two years ago, Henry volunteered to drive him there in the van he used to do so.
A minimum of five more years of living in a van is in Henry and Finn’s future.
Since he’s never peed in the same place twice, he has a bright future ahead of him. “That’s excellent news for me,” Henry says.
