On Shrewton Avenue, Samantha Stewart’s house was broken into by two intruders, with a third person suspected of standing watch outside. On a bustling Thursday morning, the attackers started a terrifying assault on the building․․
According to their size, each of the four-week-old puppies is valued between £3,000 and £4,000, depending on the breed.․․
The break-in, which happened while Ms Stewart, 25, was at home alone, occurred shortly after the puppies were placed for sale on the social networking website Facebook. Ms Stewart was not injured in the incident.․․
According to her, when she walked back into her home, she closed her door and continued straight through her house to the back door, where she opened the back door, causing her dog to leap out of her house and dash into her rear yard.
As I went to the kitchen to make a cup of coffee, I saw something moving out of the corner of my eye. “It was a rat.” By the time I turned around, I saw two elderly gentlemen standing in my kitchen, both of them were dressed in masks.
In exchange for the puppies’ safe return, their owners have given a reward of up to $1000 each.
The question is, “What the f*** are you doing in my house?” I was yelling at him.
the person who was shouting cried, ‘Give me the puppies, shut up!’ Suddenly, he seized the knife from my grip and called for my phone, which I had forgotten about.
“I swung the phone in the direction of the knife, which was not far away,” I said. “All I wanted was for them to go since there was nothing else for them to do.”
In an exclusive interview with Birmingham Live, Ryo Brown, one of the co-owners, recalled the event and shared his thoughts about it.
In the early morning hours of this morning, three men were seen outside the house by neighbors,” he claimed.
According to us, they must have been keeping an eye on the house since they raced through the back door just as the puppies’ mother was being released into the garden.”
“With a knife, they cut the woman inside the house in the chest and demanded her phone. She has a mark on her chest where she was threatened with a knife during her captivity.
When the pups were still young, they kicked their mother and then took her offspring from beneath her feet.
‘They stepped out of the house and started walking towards Walkers Heath Park,’ a witness said.
“We had just just advertised the puppies for sale on Facebook, so we’re thinking it could have something to do with that,” he said.
Mr Brown said that, because of the puppies’ young age, it is vital that they recover as quickly as possible after being injured..
In his words, “the dogs are just four weeks old and are still fully reliant on their mother,” he said.
“They must be apprehended as quickly as humanly feasible.”
The usage of closed-circuit television (CCTV) is being investigated in an effort to identify those who were involved in the event.
In the recent year, there has been a significant rise in the number of dog thefts.
According to the BBC, the number of reported cases has surged by a factor of 250 percent since the pandemic first began spreading.
Dog owners are required by law to microchip their animals, which may help in the return of their dogs if they get separated from them.
The Blue Cross Animal Welfare Society is urging police to crack down on criminals who prey on pets, as reported by the Associated Press.
Their website states that “dog theft is sadly on the rise, with estimations estimating that seven dogs were stolen each day in 2020 – an increase of 170 percent from the previous year.”
In response to the enormous spike in demand for puppies during the epidemic and the resulting surge in prices, criminals are considering puppy theft as a potential chance to make a lot of money in a short period of time.
“Dog thefts, on the other hand, continue to be very infrequent.”
Putting enormous pressure on the government and police forces around the country in order to better safeguard our beloved pets from these heartless criminals, the Blue Cross is calling on all levels of government and law enforcement to do more.
