The life of an aged dog has been given a new lease on life after receiving a remarkable — and perhaps life-saving — transformation.
Master Roshi, a 17-year-old shih tzu mix, had a huge metamorphosis when he had approximately nine pounds of densely matted fur shaved off his body, according to a photo published by the Hope for Life Rescue Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia on Wednesday.
The animal shelter said that Master Roshi was in poor condition when he initially arrived at their facility, and the person who left him off refused to disclose any information about the pup’s owner or how the canine’s hair became entangled in the first place.
“We are really grieved by the situation in which this unfortunate puppy arrived at our facility,” the rescue posted with a video of the canine on its Facebook page. “We couldn’t even determine whether he had eyes because he was so matted around his face and all over his body,” says the veterinarian.
The personnel of the shelter quickly went to work cleaning up after Master Roshi, according to the shelter. They discovered that the dog was blind, deaf, and had difficulty walking after a three-hour grooming procedure when they had finished trimming all of his tangled hairballs.
This unfortunate infant attempted to get up in order to relieve himself and fell backwards, according to a follow-up statement from the shelter. “I was holding him up so that he could finish doing his thing,” says the author.
“His legs are incredibly weak, and despite his attempts to move, he was only able to take a single step,” the article said further. He is now receiving a thorough geriatric examination at Pet Care Vet. “We [hope] that the results of the bloodwork will be satisfactory.”
Founder Paulina Cushman told WTKR that she feels Master Roshi had been mistreated for a long period of time before being brought to the shelter because of the significant quantity of matted hair covering his body.
This did not happen instantly, and it did not happen in a short period of time, such as three to six months”. For him to be in such horrible shape, it’s definitely been a year or two,” she said.
“I don’t understand why individuals don’t call for assistance sooner rather than later instead of allowing the negligence to get to this point. Rather than waiting till a dog reaches this point, anybody would be willing to adopt and care for it.
In accordance with the shelter’s announcement, Master Roshi will be eligible for adoption pending the results of his bloodwork.
