Despite the fact that Robin Lipe confesses her five-year-old son has always been the kindest of her three children, she was astonished when he wanted to marry one of the family’s two dogs. “I wasn’t completely surprised,” she says.
“Jack is our middle kid, and we’ve stated since he was born that he has the kindest soul anybody could ever hope to meet. Little things like these only go to show how true it is “Lipe shared his thoughts.
As soon as Jack brought up the subject with his mother, she believed he’d forgotten about it, but she was affected by his explanation.
“‘Mom, I’m in love with Skyler so much that I want to marry her!’ he said. “I don’t know where he got the notion, but I can’t wait to marry her when I’m a grown-up since she won’t be living anymore,” he said.”
When Robin and her husband Scott have married 10 years ago, they adopted Skyler, a Labrador retriever mix, from the local shelter. Skyler has been a part of the family ever since.
According to PEOPLE, Jack “She’s just so soft and cuddly, and I like spending time with her. In the event that you go too near to her, she will lick your face. I adore her to infinity and beyond!”
As the family’s home in Charlotte, North Carolina, where it had been raining for days, Jack informed his mother that he wanted to wait until it was sunny before holding their outdoor wedding in their garden.
“Initially, I thought the entire thing was a bit strange, but when he got up on Saturday morning and said, “Okay mom, it’s sunny out,” I thought, “Why not?” We weren’t doing anything because of the epidemic, so I said, “Why not?” Lipe shared his thoughts.
“I put on a dress for the first time in two and a half months and dug out his small blazer from the back of the wardrobe to give him something to wear.”
With shorts (which he wore backward) and rain boots, Jack finished his attire. He and his mother chose flowers from the front yard for him to carry and gave Skyler a stick to grasp.
“I simply wanted to seem attractive,” Jack said about the situation.
The wedding march was played on Robin’s phone as the small kid and his dog went down a makeshift aisle in the backyard, which had been constructed by Robin. His father and younger sister, Birdie, who was 20 months old, were on the sidelines.
Lippe chuckled as she recalled how she had assumed Birdie would be a bridesmaid but that she had been distracted by chalk and didn’t seem to be interested in the role.
Hunter, Jack’s elder brother, was none too pleased with the situation.
During the out-of-the-ordinary wedding, the seven-year-old said, “You can’t marry your own sister!”
“The last several months have been really difficult. His buddies and soccer teammates haven’t seen him in weeks, and he hasn’t been able to go to school or play on the playground, so if he wants to marry the dog, it’s stupid but it makes us happy “said the mother of three children.
