A family from Big Stone Gap, Virginia, found that the stray dog that had been loitering around their property was really a hero disguised as a stray dog.
In an interview with WJHL, Charity Galloway and her two children express gratitude to a puppy they have named Butter for helping them save their lives. Butter is a dog that has lately begun spending time in the vicinity of Golloway’s residence.
Assuming the dog was a stray, Galloway provided the canine with an outside shelter complete with electric light.
The flames quickly spread to the Galloway residence when a bulb in Butter’s shelter caught fire on Thursday afternoon. Butter reacted by sprinting to the house’s windows and barking wildly at the windows.
“He was aware that something wasn’t quite right and that someone needed to know,” Galloway said, according to WJHL. “He’s a really intelligent dog.”
As a result of the dog’s howls, Galloway was awakened, just in time to hear the heat of the flames bursting a window in her house.
Fortunately, Galloway and her children were able to flee the home and put out the fire before it could spread. The fact that no one was wounded was due to Butter’s fast thinking.
“Who knows what may have transpired if he hadn’t intervened in the situation. It could’ve been a lot worse, to be honest “Golloway made the statement. The stray dog that strayed into my yard has made a significant contribution to my well-being.
Butter turned out to be no stray at all, as Golloway quickly discovered. Valley Volunteer Firefighters responded to inquiries about the burning and were able to get a few images of the hero dog upon their arrival on the scene.
Butter was identified as the lost dog Cooper by a dog owner who saw some of the photographs on Facebook and recognized Butter as the missing dog.
It has been determined that Cooper’s owners have contacted Golloway and explained the issue, and arrangements are in place to reunite the pet with his owners.
“He’s going to be leaving us, and that makes me want to weep, but I’m delighted for him,” Golloway expressed her delight at the news. “We’ll keep in contact,” said the couple.
