When Bama arrived at Tampa International Airport, the owner of the senior dog had intended to take a flight to Alabama from the airport.
However, when Bama’s owner arrived at the airport, she was informed that her dog did not have the required travel documentation, which included confirmation of immunization.
Upon learning that Bama (whose owner had also failed to pay the pet companion fee) would not be permitted to board with her, the dog’s owner said that she would make other arrangements for Bama.
The flight attendant thought that this meant that Bama’s owner would take care of getting the dog’s paperwork in order. Unfortunately, Bama’s owner had a more heinous plan in mind for his pet dog.
She was supposed to have vaccination documents for the dog as well as the trip charge, and when she didn’t have either, she informed the gate agent she’d make alternative arrangements, according to Charlie Vazquez, the airport’s police chief, who spoke with the news network on the incident.
However, it seems that Bama’s owner was planning a more nefarious approach, one that would only exacerbate the dog’s already dire circumstances.
According to video surveillance evidence, when the lady was informed that her dog could not travel, she simply dropped Bama’s leash and boarded the aircraft without her canine companion.
“We are animal lovers, and to abuse an animal in that manner is appalling,” Chief Vazquez told the television station.
The abandoned dog was taken to VIP Rescue in Florida, where rescuers started bringing the neglected 14-year-old canine back to health as soon as they arrived.
To begin, we had to give Bama a much-needed haircut, which included cutting off big heaps of unclean matted fur that had accumulated over the years.
According to Corrin Smith, a VIP Rescue volunteer who rescued the older dog so that Bama may finally feel the love of a family, “He has multiple sores, he has an ear infection, he was severally matted.”
Although Bama is now safe, Smith is determined to hold the dog’s previous owner responsible for the years of brutality and neglect that the dog endured at the hands of the family.
According to Smith, a reporter with ABC Action News, “the lady has to be punished to the maximum extent of the law; there is no justification for this.”
According to Chief Vasquez, the state attorney’s office in Florida is apparently considering filing charges, but in the meanwhile, the officer hopes that this terrible event will serve as a lesson for future tourists.
We suggest that you call the airline before you arrive at the airport to find out what the regulations are if there are costs, and what type of papers you will be required to provide for your pet, he added.
“If you arrive and discover that you do not have (those items), please do not leave the animal. “Get in touch with someone and we’ll make arrangements.”
