After a shelter caught fire, a homeless guy jumped in and saved all of the animals inside…

According to the founder of the Atlanta animal sanctuary, a homeless guy risked his life to rescue many cats and dogs that were trapped inside when the building caught fire.

Keith Walker, 53, ran inside the W-Underdogs shelter on December 18 when a fire destroyed the shelter’s kitchen. He was later identified as the victim.

“I’m not going to lie, I was a bundle of nerves before the interview. I was a little apprehensive about going in there because of all the smoke. God, on the other hand, sent me to preserve those creatures “Walker spoke with CNN.

“It is possible to love everyone in the world if you have a dog as a pet. My dog is my greatest buddy, and I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for him, so I felt I had to do all I could to rescue all of the other dogs.”

Even though the shelter was not totally damaged by the fire, according to W-Underdogs founder Gracie Hamlin, it was rendered uninhabitable by it.

We were fortunate in that W-Underdogs was just a week away from relocating to its new facility in Atlanta, where the animals are now housed.

“He is my guardian angel,” Hamlin said in an interview with CNN. “Even the firemen were apprehensive about dealing with the dogs. They phoned animal control, but Keith was already in the building, removing the cats and dogs from the premises until they were all in a secure location.”
