Perry, a Pyrenees, was abandoned tied to a sleigh outside the Wanderers’ Rest Humane Association in Cazenovia, New York, with just a pail of water and a note that stated, “Over 10 years old.” “I can’t walk.”
Perry was unable to move and was terrified and heartbroken when rescuers noticed him. They stated he appeared defeated and was on the verge of death.
He’s now walking again and in much better spirits after the shelter took him in and began him on physiotherapy and laser treatments!

Perry had a terrible skin illness as well as two types of Lyme disease when he first came, which could explain why he was so down. His fur was also matted, making it difficult for him to maneuver and move.
Perry is no longer recognizable. He’s much happier now and moves about much more easily.
The shelter uploaded a photo of Perry the day he was rescued, and he has since received the support of thousands of people around the country.
Shelter personnel wanted to remind people that there are services available to help them if they feel they will be unable to care for an animal, and that abandonment is really not the solution.
While Perry continues his therapies, he will be fostered by his physiotherapist, who may end up adopting him permanently!
Perry’s prior owner, a 60-year-old man who abandoned him, has subsequently been discovered and charged with failure to provide veterinary treatment.
The investigation is still ongoing.
