Don Chatten from the state of New York was out walking his two dogs early in the morning on an incredibly icy morning.
In a hurry, a woman approached him and pleaded for his assistance in locating her small dog, which got lost in the park. Without objecting, he insists on her assisting in the search for the dog.
After a long search, he discovered that the dog had drowned in the freezing water of Ellicott Creek Park.
Don saw the danger soon after finding the dog and decided to act quickly, realizing he didn’t have much time to save her.
According to WKBW News, Don phoned 911 but, fearing that they might arrive too late, tried to save the dog himself. Then he acted, attempting to crawl across the ice.
However, the ice cracked, throwing him waist-deep into the frigid water. “I knew it wasn’t too deep in this area since I used to come here as a youngster,” Don told WKBW News.
The dog was shivering from the cold and was instantly transported to the doctor to be examined. The vet certified the dog’s safety following the checkup.
Don has bravely carried out a courageous act. He chooses to save a dog in a life-or-death scenario, earning the label “hero.”
