Macy confronted a scary coyote to defend her young owner — what a fearless little puppy!
Nothing beats the bond that arises between a child and their dog. Every child should be raised with a dog since they are not only beautiful companions but also strong protectors of their owners, willing to put themselves in danger when needed.
That’s what a little but at the same time courageous dog demonstrated this week when she defended her 10-year-old owner from a predator while also injuring herself.
Macy, a six-year-old Yorkie mix, resides with her owner Dorothy Kwan and her family in Scarborough, Toronto.
Macy was out for a walk with the family’s 10-year-old daughter and things went wrong when the child came face to face with a dangerous coyote.
However, the small dog surprisingly rose to the situation and fought the coyote to save her owner.
The video, which you can find at the end, is upsetting because you can see a coyote chasing Macy in the background while she begs for help.
But, in the end, it is Macy who wins the battle: Macy keeps barking, and the coyote eventually departs, as though forced away by the tiny dog.
“You can see our dog putting herself between my daughter and the coyote,” Dorothy Kwan told blogTO. “Even though she was severely injured, she continued to bark and chase the coyote away.” She reacted in kind.”
Despite avoiding the coyote, Macy was left with terrible injuries. Dorothy writes, “She received major injuries to her chest and leg.” “At the emergency vet clinic, she is having surgery for her injuries.”
Dorothy was devastated to learn that her pet Canis Minor had been harmed in order to save her daughter’s life. “My heart aches for both my child and our five-year-old rescued dog.” I’m a single mother of two children and a dog that means everything to me.”
Macy was sent to an animal hospital for treatment of her injuries, but the price was in the thousands of dollars.
People have reacted when the family set up a GoFundMe account to generate money for the costs while also sharing Macy’s incredible story: the page has nearly $20,000 in donations, more than doubling its original objective.
Even better, Macy is allegedly recuperating well, according to Dorothy’s updates on the fundraising website.
“Her fever is gone, and she has regained her appetite,” she wrote today. “I couldn’t be more pleased with her. No coyotes will want to bother her when she returns home. My fiery young lady has the makings of a true fighter. I adore you tremendously. You’re going to pull it off!”
