This dog was scared and expressed it in an unknown way. The rescuers continue to assure him that all will be fine.
They labor tirelessly to save vulnerable stray dogs. That was recently the situation for one German shepherd.
She’d been hiding near a van for days, neighbors said. Aside from a complete aversion to human touch, she appeared to be destitute, sad, and afraid.
When Hope For Paws’ Eldad Hagar and Loreta Frankonyte came, they tried to lure her out with hamburger meat. Clearly, this poor pup hadn’t fed in days, but her hunger couldn’t overcome her crippling fear of humans.
The shepherd lets out a series of high-pitched, almost human-like howls as Loreta comes. “She was terrified and conveyed it in a way I had never heard,” Eldad said.
She wants assistance, but a life on the street has taught her no one is trustworthy. The cries become louder as she scurries deeper into the crawlspace, then into another only foot away.
She hunkers down between two cargo containers, her ears almost invisible and her tail tucked piteously between her thighs. But Loreta keeps calling her, assuring her that it will all be fine. She just needs to regain her faith in mankind…
Rain, the shepherd, joins her on all fours. She knows Carey and realizes she’s the main cause of this rescue mission.
Rain is treated to a nice bath and shampoo by the Paws For Life team and volunteers. She clearly used to be somebody’s dog.
We’ll never understand how she ended up on the street. However, she misses the soft massages and being touched and stroked, and she soaks it all in like she’s finally realizing what it’s like to be loved.
