One of the nicest spots on the earth for a stray dog is in Costa Rica.
Territorio de Zaguates (or “Land of Stray Canines”) is a no-kill sanctuary in the hills west of San Jose that cares for hundreds of homeless dogs.
The dogs get food, drink, and a place to lay at night. Volunteers bathe and care for them there. These cheeky dogs think they can beat the food truck to the table!
Each dog has a name and is up for adoption. Mutts get their own “unique breed” designation.
It is Territorio de Zaguates’ objective to rehome all pets under their care. “We are a temporary home for hundreds of canines searching for a second opportunity, and a permanent home for many others.”
Volunteers often walk the dogs on huge grounds. Look at all those smiles!! Hydration is made easy with water troughs along the trails.
The dogs’ caregivers having a great time with them. Watch them slide down a hill on cardboard while dogs chase them!
