Marco and his younger brother were playing outside on their street in Guaymallén, Argentina, when they discovered an injured stray dog with a broken leg. They decided to take the dog home with them after befriending it.
“I told them we couldn’t have pets because we’re in such a horrible financial situation.” We couldn’t afford to treat the dog.” According to Marco’s mother.
With that said, Marco returned home from school, telling his mother that he needed to sell his skateboard in order to take the dog to the vet. It was a valued property of his, but if it meant saving a dog’s life, Marco was all in.
Marco decided to market his skateboard on the internet:
“Hello, my name is Marco, and I’m Laura’s son. She loaned me her Facebook account because I don’t have one,” he wrote. “Take a look at this puppy. I discovered him in the street. He’s unwell, and he’s got a fractured leg.
“I fed him and bathed him, but he still requires medical attention. I’m selling my skateboard to pay for his vet visit. If you’re interested in the skateboard, please put your phone number here so my mother may contact you. Thank you so much, Marco.
Because of the boy’s caring reaction to the circumstance, the post was shared hundreds of times online within days.
Because the post went viral throughout the world, the funds were raised, Marco was able to take him to the vet, and he even got to keep his skateboard!
Marco has decided to give the dog the name Rocco. He is still recovering from his leg injuries, but he is now able to do so in the company of a loving family. Rocco moves slowly, but he is already sprinting, which makes Marco very happy. Things have been difficult for our family recently, but he has never lost his love for animals.
