There is no doubt about our dogs’ loyalty and affection for their humans, and while the subsequent tale is heartbreaking, this devoted dog was a hero and made a difference we will remember; he sacrificed his own life to save many of his family.
It happened in Merauke, Indonesia, when Achy Wijaya awoke in the morning to find his dog nearly dying in their yard. The night before, Achy heard him barking.
Achy was distraught when he discovered his dog had been poisoned on purpose, according to NtdNews: “They did not rob us since our beloved dog continued barking,” Achy wrote on her Facebook page. “We only acknowledged when we left the house in the morning.” We discovered that the robbers had poisoned our dog.”
As the tragic facts were gathered, the family reported that they were sleeping when a gang of robbers planned to plunder their home.
Their dog started barking loudly, but no one bothered to go up and check, thinking the dog had spotted a cat.
The dog abruptly ceased barking, and the following morning the dog was discovered near death — laying in his own vomit with a mouthful of foam – indicating that he had been poisoned.
“We wanted to take him to the vet, but we live in Papua, therefore the vet normally only deals with animals.” Furthermore, it was a Sunday, therefore the vet’s clinic was closed as well,” Achy stated.
And, while the heartbroken Achy lamented the death of his heroic dog, who gave his life to save many of his family members, Achy videoed his brave dog’s final moments – to celebrate his pet’s life and to warn others to concentrate when their pets bark.
