It’s always upsetting when a dog goes away, but don’t give up hope – they’ll sometimes return to you when you least expect it.
That was the case lately when a fearful dog ran away but returned home in the most unexpected way.
Mary Lynn, of Greensville, South Carolina, has a dog named Rajah.
However, Rajah, like many dogs, is terrified of pyrotechnics… which resulted in a frightening circumstance lately, when the sound of a fireworks show forced her to flee.
“She was in the backyard with our other dog when our neighbor started shooting off fireworks, and I knew she’d be afraid,” Mary explained to SWNS. “I got outside — and she was gone.”
Mary and her husband Ryan spent the rest of the night searching the neighborhood for their missing dog, contacting shelters, and posting on social media.
Hours passed with no results. But then, at 3 a.m., the doorbell rang… Rajah was there!
Rajah had been out on her own for more than 7 hours, but the clever dog not only made her way home but also learned how to use the doorbell!
Fortunately, Ryan was still awake and available to answer the door and invite her in. It’s unclear what the pup was up to while she was gone, but Mary believes she had a good time.
“She was covered in thorns and appeared to have rolled in dung,” she told SWNS. “So it appears she had a good time.”
They were overjoyed to have her back. The video of the smart dog ringing the doorbell, which was taken on their Ring camera, has gone viral when the owners shared it on Reddit.
We are overjoyed that Rajah has returned home! What a clever dog to know how to use a doorbell!
