Sharing their bed with pets proved to be a difficult chore for one New York couple.
Chris and Marisea Hughes’ peaceful slumber was disrupted when the eight dogs they rescued began sleeping on their bed.
After many agonizing nights of squabbling over a piece of bed or even the couch, the couple decided it was time to call it quits.
What might be the finest option for everyone’s comfort if not the construction of a massive bed?
And “big” isn’t an exaggeration! The bed frame can hold two double mattresses.
The bed is more than 13 feet long in total.
Mike Ford, a bespoke furniture manufacturer who happens to be an animal lover, was approached with the couple’s ideas.
He eagerly agreed to take on this endeavor. And, after 6 months of laborious effort, the miraculous bed is complete.
For older dogs that find it difficult to leap on and off the bed, a mini-ladder is integrated into the frame.
Storage compartments are located at the bottom of this design.
Mike created this bed unique by carving the paw prints of his own old dog, who died at the age of 16, on the back of it.
Chris and Marisea founded a non-profit organization that saves sick and elderly dogs from shelters and places them with loving new families to spend the rest of their lives surrounded by love and support.
The charity also covers the costs of therapy and settling into their new life.
The duo works hard to ensure that as many elderly pets as possible are happy in their lives.
By the way, the couple believes that there is enough room in their new bed for a couple more pets to be saved.
