Liz’s life has always been intertwined with dogs.
Her mother raised West Highland White Terriers as a child, while her father ran a pet food company.
As a result, by the time Liz reached adulthood, her life would have been incomplete without paws beating on the floor.
She discovered her calling while dealing with pets rescued from dangerous situations.
Unfortunately, Liz’s husband did not share her enthusiasm. Tired of living in a house full of dogs, he issued an ultimatum: “It’s either me or the dogs.”
Liz, of course, didn’t take her time.
Liz’s husband packed up and left after 25 years of marriage.
Liz and her husband married in 1991 and moved into their first home.
Liz, confident that she could take care of dogs a part of her life, created a tiny shelter immediately next to the house.
Over time, the concept evolved into a dedicated refuge for bull terriers.
Liz assists a large number of pets in finding new homes and beginning new lives.
She takes in dogs who have nowhere else to go for temporary shelter, looks after their health, and keeps them happy while they wait for their new family.
The realization that animals’ lives are improving offers enormous satisfaction from such a business.
Liz, on the other hand, confesses that it is difficult — she has no days off and works till late at night.
It’s a huge responsibility, but Liz isn’t going to back down.
