Last October, a dog named Toro was discovered chained in the courtyard of an abandoned house.
The dog was released and taken to a Hempstead animal shelter.
The volunteers deducted from the dog’s behavior that Toro had most likely never lived in the house and had never known human affection.
He was nervous and afraid of others around him in the shelter.
Toro had grown used to the people who had rescued him. He did not, however, interact with other people or animals.
But it soon became evident that beneath all of this fictitious hatred is a sweet puppy who only wants to be loved.
Toro began to love everyone as soon as he became accustomed to his new surroundings.
The dog wanted to hug everyone he met on the way.
According to one of the shelter’s staff, when Toro was released from the leash during the first stroll in the yard, he instantly rushed to her and stood for almost fifteen minutes, holding her around the waist.
It was a heartfelt moment. The dog merely pushed its forehead against the volunteer’s thigh, as though thanking her for his rescue and new life.
Toro began to open out more and more after that day, hugging everyone he met.
The dog was able to find new owners in the winter of 2020. However, after only a week and a half, they returned him, claiming that the pet did not suit them.
Toro remains in the shelter and lavishes affection on his new buddies, caressing each and every one of them.
And the volunteers can only hope that one day, a family will be able to enjoy the loving dog.
