In Nepal, a yearly fair honors puppies for their devotion and loyalty…

There is no denying that dogs are truly man’s best friend. They improve our lives in a variety of ways. People all throughout the world can’t imagine living without them and paying tribute to them in various ways. In Nepal, for example, an annual celebration honors the amazing link we share with our dogs.

This Day of the Dogs festival honors and thanks dogs for their devotion and friendship. It’s also known as Kukur Tihar or Kukur Puja (worship of the dogs).

It takes place during “biwali,” the Hindu festival of lights that takes place between October and November. This period is connected with Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity, and marks the beginning of the fiscal year in India. Diwali also represents the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil, and wisdom over ignorance.

The dogs are blessed with a “Tika,” a red mark on their forehead, at the celebration. As part of the celebration, they are also given flower garlands and food.

Because Hindus believe that dogs are the messengers of Yamaraj, the God of Death, they believe that keeping the dogs amused will placate Yamaraj.

At the particular festival, all dogs are welcomed and appreciated. Pets, as well as stray dogs and cats, are pampered as if they were royalty. Meat, eggs, milk, and high-quality dog food are fed to them.

It’s a lovely time of year in Nepal when the city is illuminated and people clean their homes and courtyards. They pray to Laxmi, the Goddess of Wealth, pleading with her to visit and bless their homes.

The animals in the photographs appear to be pleased and content to be the center of attention, but we believe that every day should be Dog Day.
