A dog who served in the military gives a heartfelt farewell to a true hero. For the past four and a half years, a dog named Cena has operated as a bomb-sniffing dog.
Cena and Lance Cpl. Jeffrey DeYoung has been working together in Afghanistan for six months.
Their friendship had grown so strong. The man was always by the dog’s side and assisted him in any situation.
In the bitter cold of the night, he warmed the dog and led him across the river. He was continuously defending the dog.
When the man’s seven best pals went missing for three weeks, the dog consoled him.
DeYoung was discharged, but the dog continued to sniff for bombs for more than four years.
DeYoung adopted the dog after it was retired in 2014. They shared a home for three years. When the dog was diagnosed with cancer, his owner was devastated.
Cena brought meaning to DeYoung’s life and extended love and compassion for the man. Unfortunately, Cena died after being diagnosed with cancer.
