Lauren Buckley was surfing Facebook one winter night before Christmas when she came across a post from a man who had picked up two stray dogs on the street and was now unsure what to do with them.
Lauren, who worked as a volunteer for the animal rescue group with her friend Brooke Cole, volunteered to assist.
The girls postponed their New Year’s Eve plans and went to see the author of the post. Both dogs appeared to be in distress, but Lainey was the most concerned.
Lauren claimed that the animal emitted a foul odor. The dog didn’t see anything and left bloody markings all over the place.
Everything said Lainey wouldn’t live more than a week.
However, following the first visit to the veterinarian, it became evident that the dog is a true warrior!
She suffered from excruciating itching and agony as a result of the untreated demodicosis. Secondary skin infection resulted in nearly total hair loss. Lainey, on the other hand, persevered and fought for her life.
A long and difficult treatment began, with the costs handled by a volunteer organization.
Lauren and Brooke, in turn, attempted to cheer up the dog and assist her in dealing with stress.
Correct therapy, love, and care performed their job, and Lainey eventually began to resemble a dog.
The skin sores began to heal, and dark brown hairs began to grow in their place.
For the first time in her brief life, Lainey came to life and began to act like a puppy. She was back in a cheerful mood five months after a major sickness.
And the dog was soon able to find a new home. Kelly, Lauren’s buddy, drove her there.
Together with her husband, she began keeping an online blog in which she discussed the puppy’s steady recuperation, which was given a new name by the adoptive family – Luna.
The dog became a sister to three pets, Kelly and Larry, who welcomed her into the pack right away.
Luna now has a new and happy existence, due to a girl who chose to check her Facebook account before Christmas…
