When the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department received the news that a dog had been hit by an automobile, Sergeant Chris Howlett dashed to the site.
He discovered the injured dog in a snowbank along the road. He instantly removed his jacket and wrapped it around the freezing puppy as best he could to keep her warm.
Then he sat and comforted the dog, assuring her that she was not alone and that aid was on its way.
The dog was quickly taken to a nearby veterinarian for treatment. Fortunately, she suffered just minor injuries.
According to Sergeant Chris Howlett, the family has reached out to provide an update. Rogue is her name, and she is being evaluated by veterinarians. She is doing well, and maybe we will be able to return home! For sure the family appreciated everyone’s outpouring of love and support.
We’re glad she got to see her family again.
