Gunner, like other Golden Retrievers, is adorable, friendly, and enjoys making new friends. Gunner’s best friend, unlike other dogs, is a dolphin named Delta.
Gunner and Delta have been best friends since Gunner was 8 weeks old and Delta was 4 years old. Despite the fact that their friendship is the stuff of fairytales, a recent snapshot on Twitter sparked quite a stir.
Ken, aka @_woolyback, posted a photo of Gunner giving Delta a big wet doggie kiss. Ken captioned the photo, “Sorry to interrupt, essential news.”
As of this writing, the image has been liked by over 1.3 million people, and hundreds of thousands have shared it.
“I adore this!” said one woman, @mz_jolene, in response to the tweet. My heart is heavy these days, but this has really eased it. Thank you very much! We are in desperate need of LOVE right now!”
Delta is a resident at the Dolphin Research Center in Grassy Key, Florida, and Gunner has known him since he was a baby. The Center released a flashback photo of the duo so fans could see how their friendship developed.
