Katie, Carole’s and Verne King’s German Shepherd, was a much-loved pet.
The couple once traveled to Montana with their 7-year-old cat.
While the owners went about their business, a four-legged companion awaited them in the hotel room.
When the couple returned to the hotel, she was not there.
The owners hurried to find their favorite.
They searched every nook and cranny of the hotel and the surrounding streets.
They distributed hundreds of fliers around the area.
Even at night, the owners continued to look for the pet, using night vision devices.
Strangers offered to assist. Someone has set up groups on Facebook and other social media sites.
There was not a single person in the city who was unaware of the dog’s death.
The owners did not give up hope and continued their search for the fugitive.
Carole even had to give up her work to care for her cat. The lady worked for the postal service.
The owners spent nearly two months looking for the dog. However, they were unable to locate her.
The phone then rang one day. One man claimed seeing an unusual dog sitting in his yard who resembled Katie in appearance.
The dog escaped as the pair was on their way to the given address.
They began to walk around the surrounding streets, questioning passers-by.
One individual claimed to have seen a similar dog not far away.
A woman approached the couple at that point and pointed to the spreading trees. The fugitive was seen by the Kings.
They came up to her, grabbed her, and began hugging her.
The pair cried and shouted with joy at the same time.
Cars passing by came to a halt, unsure what was going on.
When everyone realized what was causing such tumultuous joy, they embraced the couple and their cat.
The dog was rushed to the veterinarian. She appeared frail and malnourished.
The veterinarian stated that their pet was dehydrated and had lost 5 kg.
Katie was well-known in the area, and even the doctor recognized her.
The dog was now able to recuperate both mentally and physically.
The owners recall what happened to their cat as a nightmare and hope that it never happens again.
