Pumpkin the raccoon was approximately a month old when Rosie Kemp discovered her in her Nassau, Bahamas backyard. The little items fell out of a tree, injuring her severely. Furthermore, her mother was nowhere to be discovered. But Rosie, as bighearted as he was always, couldn’t let the tiny raccoon there die, so she brought her inside and cared for her.
Pumpkin is now not only well and healthy, but she’s also a YouTube sensation. Only on Instagram, she and her two canine pals have over 1.3 million followers. This is her tale!
When Rosie discovered the young raccoon, her fate appeared to be sealed. The gentlewoman, on the other hand, was determined to save her life. She initially attended to the raccoon’s injury. After falling out of the three, one of her rear legs was fractured. Rosie and her daughter Laura then hand-fed the baby around the clock. They even kept her warm as her mother would have.
“It was (and still is) a full-time job raising her,” Laura told The Dodo. “They are incredibly clever, very observant, and I would even say capable of expressing emotions.”
Pumpkin recovered completely after a few weeks of hard work by the two women. It was at this point that they decided to introduce her to their two rescue dogs. Surprisingly, the pups and orphan raccoons have formed an instant attachment. The two dogs treated their tiny sister as if she were one of their own kind. They quickly became an inseparable group.
“She immediately bonded with us and our two rescue dogs and follows me and our two dogs everywhere we go,” the woman explained. “Pumpkin believes the dogs to be her mothers!” She respects them when they’ve had their fill of roughhousing, and she loves to cuddle close to them when she’s tired! She’s a witty little thing, but we adore her.”
