A Texas couple was set to board a plane for a long-awaited vacation. But their Chihuahua dog nearly destroyed everything.
Jared and Kristi Owens discovered one of their baggage was 5 pounds heavier than expected while checking in at the airport.
When they opened the luggage, a chihuahua named Icky walked out calmly.
The dog has a habit of digging into the owners’ clothes.
They didn’t expect to see Icky among the contents of the suitcase at the Southwest Airlines check-in counter.
The couple was really fortunate to be able to go on vacation.
Cathy Cook, an airport employee, took the dog in and agreed to look after it while the owners were away.
Jared Owens says that he was frightened of being accused: at the airport, they might believe they’re trying to transport the dog to Las Vegas.
They were sympathetic to the situation, though, and did whatever necessary to allow the dog’s owners to fly away on their own trip.
According to the National Canine Research Association of America, Chihuahuas burrow instinctively.
Small dogs require this ability in order to obtain food and hide from huge predators.
Many Chihuahua owners have found that their dogs may crawl beneath mounds of garments or blankets and sit in silence, making them difficult to detect.
