A stray German Shepherd was discovered near a forest in Fort Worth, Texas.
It was clear that the previous owners had discarded her.
The dog was terrified and refused to approach anyone.
“I knew it was critical to entice her and gain her trust,” Judy, the head of the local rescue organization, wrote.
The woman began by analyzing the dog’s every movement in order to gain trust.
Judy has already rescued hundreds of terrified and abandoned dogs from that area, which is also a notorious dump for unwanted animals and is used to remaining calm and patient with pups like this German Shepherd.
To make touch, the woman adopts a soothing voice and repeatedly assures the dog that everything is fine.
“At first, just seeing me and my car, the dog rushed away into the forest,” Judy explains.
But she didn’t give up and came each day to feed her.
The lady arrived one morning, and the dog was there waiting for her.
“I realized I was getting near to the point where I could take her with me.”
But the German Shepherd was hiding something.
The woman was escorted to the jungle by the dog, who showed her another terrified dog.
A pit bull with wounds on his face.
“The shepherd made it apparent that she wanted to communicate that if you take me, you will also take my friend!” Judy wrote a letter.
It is unclear whether the dogs were pals from the start or if they became friends later on, but it is evident that they care about one another.
She couldn’t do anything else but take two.
Both dogs, Iris (German Shepherd) and Clover (Pitbull) went to the vet and were discovered to be heartworm-free, which is a tremendous relief for Judy, who has already begun looking for a foster home for them.
“Every day I told her the same thing so she heard my voice and knew that one day her world will change,” wrote Judy.
It’s wonderful to see dogs’ dread transformed into smiles and contentment, as well as the belief that they will find a new happy, and healthy life…
