Todd, a golden retriever, was hiking with his owner Paula Goodwin in Anthem, Arizona, when they encountered a fatal rattlesnake.
Rattlesnakes are one of the world’s most venomous snakes, killing thousands of humans each year.
Todd spotted the rattlesnake and leaped in front of Paula’s leg just before she was going to stomp on it unintentionally.
He was able to save Paula, but his bravery cost him a horrible bite on his face, causing it to swell considerably.
Todd was brought to Anthem Animal Hospital by Paula, where he was treated. He expects to fully recover.
