When Drew Harrisberg visited the shelter to adopt a puppy, he discovered that the dog he had his heart set on had already been adopted. So he went to look at the other pups in the shelter. That was when he noticed a strange sound.
Drew heard what he refers to as a pig-seal squeal. He turned back, curious about what kind of weird creature the organization was sheltering, to discover that the sound was, in fact, coming from a Pit Bull mix named Dennis, who was, for some reason, overjoyed to see Drew.
Drew approached the dog, and before he knew it, he was captivated. He had to have this joyful, chatty pup. Dennis, as fate would have it, had already been signed for adoption by somebody else. So Drew came up with another plan.
He asked the shelter whether he could adopt Drew for the two weeks until his adoption was finalized.
Drew agreed to foster Dennis despite the shelter’s caution that he would become connected to him. The shelter was correct, as it ended out! Dennis turned out to be a chatterbox, and Drew fell head over heels for him. So much that when the moment came, he didn’t have the will to send Drew to his new owners.
Drew then did the best he could figure out: he begged the new owners to let him retain Drew. Watch the incredible video below to find out what the new owners answered in response to Drew’s request!
