Here is a short story about the “Kid of the Year” saved…

Roman McConn, a seven-year-old boy, is on a quest to save dogs. The loving boy focuses on the most senior, undesirable animals in shelters that are on the euthanasia list and helps them find a home. He has saved almost 1,300 unwanted dogs and 40 cats thus far.

Roman started rescuing animals when he was four years old, with the support of his mother, Sully. Sully captures the beautiful Roman playing with the shelter dogs and kittens while discussing each one. She then uploads the footage on their Facebook page. Roman is a true “dog whisperer,” according to the shelter’s grateful staff.

He spends time trying to understand each one of the animals before filming himself playing with and talking about the dogs. The videos wonderfully bring out the personality of the dogs. Roman said that he does this because “dogs don’t need to be in a shelter, they need to do stuff.”

He excels at assisting the dogs in “doing stuff.” Sully and his mother started Project Freedom Ride, which matches unloved and abandoned dogs in Texas and Georgia with families in the Pacific Northwest. They help Texas rescue organizations with fundraising, networking, and adoption, and they give unwanted animals a second opportunity with families and getting partners outside of Texas.

Roman’s affection and dedication to the most undesired creatures are visible on his face. When he learns that another animal has found their permanent home, his mother says, “he lights up like a Christmas tree.” He is absolutely inspirational, and it’s clear to see why the ASPCA chose him Kid of the Year.

“I think it’s really essential for the dogs I meet that I give them the best chance possible of finding the perfect home,” Roman told InsideEdition.com. “I believe that many other youngsters should be doing what I’m doing.”

This story really fills our hearts and souls with joy! Please share Roman’s story so that the rest of the world can see how one kind soul can save so many homeless dogs and cats.
