Elliot, a lovely Great Dane, is still fascinated with the plush green dragon toy she owned as a baby…

Mandy Helwege, a resident in Denver, adopted a Great Dane dog in May 2017.

When the dog’s prospective owner learned of her birth from the breeder, she requested a plush toy in the shape of a green dragon, reminiscent of the hero of the science fiction film Pete’s Dragon.

This heartwarming story about Pete, a young child, and a real dragon he discovers by mistake in the jungle, will leave no one indifferent.

The pet received both the nickname of the Disney hero – Elliot – and a new buddy, to whom the dog instantly became devoted and refuses to let go even now when she has grown into a massive and severe adult dog.

Mandy claims she got an extremely active, energetic, and independent pet.

When she is traveling over the mountains, she is best accompanied by her dog. She enjoys long walks and generally wants to be a part of everything her owner does.

But, in the presence of her dragon, Elliot reverts to the size of a vulnerable puppy.

Mandy took a series of images with a cat and her toy – from birth to the present day – to record moments of this touching bond.

“I frequently hear the expression “dog is for the soul,” and I can assume that with Elliot in my life, I have a deeper understanding of what this signifies,” Mandy claims.

“We have such a strong connection; nothing is the same with her as it was before.”
