Several bystanders observed a small curly dog sitting on an ice floe in the middle of the Detroit River.

He was plainly very cold and unable to leave on his own.

Nothing but freezing water and ice surrounded him, with the occasional appearance of birds of prey and ravenous coyotes.

No one ventured to save the unfortunate dog for four days until Jude Mead arrived next to the river.

When he spotted the dog, he considered how to save him.

By that point, the dog stranded on the ice had become a local celebrity, and a large crowd had assembled to see him.

When BASF Corp representatives learned that Jude was planning to rescue the dog, they presented him with an airboat.

Jude was able to reach the dog and rescue him out of the ice trap with its assistance.

The dog was taken to the Woodhaven Veterinary Clinic by the Canadian. Frostbite on the dog’s paws, serious dehydration, and pancreatitis were discovered.

Alfonso was the name of the dog. Doctors saved Alfonso’s paws, and as he healed, the dog was brought to the River Rouge Animal Shelter.

The shelter began to contact and write to those who wanted to take Alfonso home on a regular basis, but the staff was confident that his savior Jude Mead would be the best owner for the dog.

The man was eager to take the dog for himself, and the dog traveled to his new home in Canada the other day, peaceful and positive…
