This Florida lady has miraculously reconnected with her 15-year-old missing dog. A Facebook post made the surprising reunion possible. After nearly a year, the woman was moved to tears when she discovered a photo of her dog on social media.
It was a rainy October day when Lisa Raulerson of West Palm Beach inadvertently left a door open, allowing her four-legged friend, Sparky, to escape and vanish. Lisa was devastated by the tragic event because she and her late husband had adopted Sparky as a puppy and reared him together.
Lisa looked for the senior dog for weeks, with the help of friends and neighbors, but everything was in vain. The lady even believed the dog had died.
“We looked for him for a week or two, just straight looking,” Lisa told WPTV. “We pretty much assumed he died. It was heartbreaking because he was a part of our group and we talked about him every day.”
Even though she could have sworn she’d never see Sparky again, Lisa was about to reconnect with her beloved furry buddy 331 days after he went away. The woman was surfing on Facebook when she came across a photo of her Sparky. She recognized him right instantly, and her heart swelled with excitement.
“It’s as though a gap in my heart has been filled,” she added. “I never expected to see him again, but here he is.” “I wish he could speak.”
The life-saving shot was released online by the Sunshine State Westie Rescue, the shelter where Sparky wound up after animal control authorities discovered him wandering the streets. The puppy and her mother were reunited a few days later!
After Sparkly miraculously returned to his home, the shelter released another post to encourage individuals who have been forced to go through the traumatic experience of losing their dogs to never quit up. The staff, on the other hand, wished to raise awareness about the need of having your pet microchipped.
“Keep your posts about your missing dog updated, and keep the shelter’s information up to date,” the message says. “You never know what might happen.” MOST IMPORTANTLY, microchip and register your animals! That is your best chance of reuniting with your dog.”
