Duke, the Brussos’ dog, was acquired from an orphanage in Portland, Connecticut. Duke is dissatisfied with his existence in the orphanage, but he gradually grows into the ideal companion for his family.
Six years later, Duke thanks Brusso in the kindest way possible! The family had just welcomed their little daughter, Harper, and Duke was immediately protective of his sister.
Duke leaped onto his parents’ bed when they slept blissfully one night, while the rest of the household slept quietly. When he began shaking excessively and refusing to obey his mother, she suspected something was wrong.
Duke noticed a nine-week-old infant who wasn’t breathing in his parents’ room and informed them of the situation. A doctor saved Harper’s life at the last minute while his family brought him to the emergency department!
Duke eventually calmed down after ensuring that his sister was breathing and doing fine! They thank Duke, who is clueless that he is a hero, for saving them in time. They tremble at the prospect of what may have happened if Duke hadn’t recalled them in time.
Duke’s story, hopefully, will motivate more people to consider saving one of these brave and devoted dogs!
