Every year, 1.5 million shelter pets are euthanized in the United States due to overcrowding and a shortage of adoptive families. People also prefer to buy pets rather than adopt them from a shelter. Animal rescue companies must frequently get imaginative in order to locate adopted homes for these creatures.
Niagara SPCA in New York worked with Just Pizza & Wing Co. in Amherst in order to gain more publicity and help its animals find new homes.
Kimberly LaRussa, an SPCA event planner, and Mary Alloy, the owner of Just Pizza & Wing, collaborated to help other canines in need. They came up with an absolutely remarkable and brilliant idea together. They decided to place flyers of adoptable dogs on pizza delivery boxes to ensure that adoptable pets have a chance to find their ultimate homes.
Pizza customers will receive a particularly charming surprise as a thank you for purchasing their food while also supporting a community group. What’s the best part? Anyone who adopts one of the puppies featured on the pizza box flyer will receive a $50 pizza shop gift card.
Many people in the community accepted and were fascinated by the concept. Larry, a six-month-old puppy, found a home on the first day of the campaign. Many potential owners were drawn to the other pets as well. We hope they are as fortunate as Larry!
“We’ve gotten a huge level of interest and support from the neighborhood and beyond since the story went viral on Friday,” Kimberly said. Many people like to eat a pizza merely to receive the picture of the shelter dog; other pizzerias have offered to place posters on their pizza boxes, and many individuals are tagging their friends and relatives.”
