I can’t fathom how devastating losing a dog must be. It should, however, be a few times more overwhelming to reconcile with your four-legged buddy after years apart. When no one would have believed there was still hope, this man in Ontario, Canada felt that way after he was reunited with his pet dog.
Mike Plas’ husky and shepherd mix slipped out of his boundary collar at his home in Ontario four years ago, and he lost him. Mike has never been able to locate his long-lost pal, despite his best efforts over the years. Until he received a phone call a few days ago.
Mike recalls, “He was always more than simply a pet or a dog to me.” “We did all together: we went fishing, hunting, and he came to work with me half of the time.” I’d take time off work to join him in celebrating his birthday.”
Mike was set to reconcile with his dog, Jack, after four hard years, thanks to the efforts and charity of the Centennial Animal Hospital in Winnipeg. Mike just got the call he’d been waiting for all this time while he was at work last Thursday. Of fact, the emotion was so strong that Mike began to cry.
Mike recalls, “They said they acquired a dog there and […] he was mine.” “So I asked them to double-check that one eye had a brow and one paw had a newborn black nail,” she explained. The man, who confessed he never gave up hope, went straight to the veterinary hospital to reunite with his best friend.
“I’d become pretty angry on days when I missed him a lot, but I never gave up hope,” Mike said. It’s difficult to put into words how wonderful it feels to finally see each other after such a long period. Fortunately for Mike and Jack, it was time to fill the void left by their unwelcome separation.
“It was more pleasant than anything I’d ever known before.” “It’s almost as if my life has returned to the way it was, the way it’s intended to be,” Mike explained. “As soon as they opened the door and he saw me, he went insane.” He began crying, kissing me, rolling over on the floor, and requesting that I pet his belly. For a long time, his tail hasn’t stopped wagging.”
