As much as our faithful companions assist us in every manner, they also have a habit of assisting other creatures. They may take on jobs that will make the world a better place, in addition to providing us with loyalty.
Sarge, a 9-year-old German Shepherd, was one of the pups that found a way to do so. Sarge was a grumpy dog who could have been regarded as his own version of Scrooge when he was younger. Once his owner, Cheryl Stephen, took home a wounded fawn named Buckwheat, things changed.
The fawn was discovered lying in the middle of a road as if he had been abandoned by his mom. Buckwheat would almost certainly not have survived if Cheryl hadn’t discovered the fawn. What happened to the newborn deer’s mother is still unknown, but thanks to Sarge and Cheryl’s assistance, the baby was able to find a secure haven to recover.
“Sarge leaped into action when I walked in the door holding a fawn.” He wants to examine them and will smell and nose around aggressively to evaluate their status,” Stephen told Paws Planet. “The fawns are attracted to Sarge and feel secure in his company. Sarge will not abandon them”
Buckwheat had fully recovered his health and was ready to be released back into the wild. Sarge has taken up the job of caring for orphaned and wounded wild fawns since then. He is always glad to do his job, no matter what, and has a special place in his heart for giving injured animals a lot of affection.
The Stephen family is ecstatic about how wonderful of a dog Sarge is.
