If anyone believes that dogs and UPS drivers don’t get along, this anecdote proves them wrong. Even for a Pit Bull and a woman UPS carrier, love knows no bounds.
Katie Newhouser is a UPS driver with over 15 years of experience in the industry. She’s met more people than she can recall as a result of her employment, not to mention pets. But there’s one pup she can’t mistake for anybody else: the one that was once her companion and is now a member of her family.
Everybody, meet Leo, the adorable Pitbull that holds a particular place in her heart.
When Katie first met Leo, he was owned by a woman named Tina, and the two formed an unbreakable friendship. Katie’s client dog was Leo. He kept looking for the woman at a location where she frequented at least once a month.
He’d supposedly go insane if I showed up at the complex, and he’d want to come down and see me,” she told The Dodo. “For some reason, he took a shine to me.” He’d always come up behind me and lick my face.”
The driver’s friendship with Leo and his master lasted for a year until she found that the dog’s owner had died when she returned from vacation and paid them a visit.
Tina’s kid was left in charge of his mother’s dog. He quickly realized, however, that he was unable to supply Leo with the level of love and devotion he had become accustomed to. He was too preoccupied to look after him.
Katie offered to adopt the puppy without hesitation, forging one of the most amazing human-animal friendships ever.
“I knew he had nowhere to go,” she explained, “and I didn’t want him to end up in a shelter with someone who wouldn’t be good for him.”
Their relationship developed over time. Despite the fact that Katie had already owned several dogs, she knew Leo would fit right in and be a perfect match for her family. Katie and his doggy brothers now reside with the doggie. We know he is surrounded by the love and support he requires.
