As you can see, dog rescues despise hearing the phrase “it can’t be done.” Alternatively, “Don’t bother.” That is not how animal rescuers work. Leaving any animal in need behind goes against all they believe in.
Two rescuers were moved to action when they learned about a dog trapped in a distant community. They weren’t even deterred when they were informed over and again that hiking to that dog and carrying him down to safety would be impossible.
This little community in Taiwan’s mountains could only be reached on foot. Because a car couldn’t make it, two bold and brave men set out on their own. One of the hikers was an expert and had a little more confidence, but even he recognized it would be a risky journey.
They left at 3 a.m. and arrived at the guest’s home where the pup was staying around 7:30 a.m. When the men looked over at the makeshift dog houses, they discovered that they were all empty. They were completely demoralized.
However, when searching the property, they discovered the small dog hidden behind a stack of plastic chairs. The rescuers were ecstatic to find him there, but the excitement swiftly faded.
When the dog emerged, he was particularly friendly. They finally discovered why. He was frail and in excruciating discomfort. He then laid his head on one of their laps, knowing he didn’t have much longer to live.
The rescuers did not spend any time. They began treating him immediately away. He was ready to go with some bandages and some TLC. They put him in a rucksack and thought he would stay calmly inside until they could bring him down the mountain.
The dog, now known as “Sandy,” had been such a wonderful boy throughout the expedition. Both men were taken aback. It’s as if he comprehended every detail. It’s as though he recognized that this trail down the mountain would lead to a lovely new existence.
Sandy was absolutely correct! It was merely the beginning of the journey down the mountain. His new route had been paved with luck. He had to stay at the vet for a week for medical care. Sandy had to have two paws amputated and had to learn to adapt very effectively.
The next stage for him was to look for a new, loving home. Let’s just say Sandy had a lot of fans. People were in awe of the courageous men and the well-behaved thankful dog who remained quiet in a backpack down the side of a mountain after his rescuers recorded their rescue journey on their Facebook page.
