A shelter animal’s life must be difficult. Perhaps this is why, even when ordinarily happy animals wind up in shelters, sadness is all that can be seen on their faces. Despite the caring and affection for animals shown by the volunteers. It’s also the situation of Sanford, who was described as “a broken dog”!
Sanford’s story, like that of many other shelter dogs, is devastating. Fortunately, in his case, everything works out in the end. It all began in April when a stray dog was struck by a car. Authorities transported him to a small shelter in Dallas, Texas, because he was hungry, afraid, and injured. Unfortunately, the shelter lacked the necessary resources to assist Sanford.
As a result, he was moved to the Dallas DogRRR, a rescue organization. The volunteers quickly noticed he was in serious need of assistance!
“Physically, he was shattered… Kerry Anechiarico, executive director of Dallas DogRRR, told The Dodo that when the volunteer went to meet him, he “didn’t really make any effort to come and say hello.” “It’s almost as if he’d given up and was simply waiting for his turn.”
Sanford’s life, however, took a dramatic turn from that moment forward. He was given the medical attention he required and was able to walk again. Furthermore, he got a foster home in the meantime. But the most important thing was that he rediscovered his beautiful smile.
“I’m on my 52nd foster placement and can honestly say that I’ve never had somebody as cheerful as him. He stares at me in a manner that no other animal or human, even my own pets, has ever done. Sanford’s foster mother, Karen Velazquez, told the Dodo that the only time he isn’t smiling is when he is sleeping or eating.
Now it’s time to find him a fever home and some wonderful fur parents, as he so richly deserves. “He’ll make a wonderful family dog.” He’ll get along with all dogs and people. Kerry Anechiarico told the Dodo that he “does well with kids.” “He’s the ideal companion dog for you to bring home.”
Take a look at that grin. Is it possible not to fall in love with it?
