A 12-week-old puppy was dumped on the side of the road like trash in Youngstown, Ohio, less than a week ago. Deputy Tara was dispatched by the Mahoning County Dog Warden to take him up and transport him to a Girard veterinarian. The puppy’s temperature was just 74 degrees at the time, and he was only taking four to five breaths each millisecond.
Xavier’s veterinarians didn’t hold out much hope for him; he’d been sleeping in his own feces for an unknown amount of time, had pressure blisters with stains on his side, and was most likely hungry. Slowly, the platoon was able to increase his temperature, hydrate him, and start giving him small refections.
Xavier is still a child. Maybe 12 weeks old? So far, his life appears to be what I expect hell to be like… There’s no other way to explain it. Thanks to everyone’s prayers, he’s become a mini-phenomenon.
Xavier was still hanging on two days later, and his prognosis sounded splendid, but life for the pup took another serious turn, as it had in so many prior mystifications. His life was nearly cut short again the next day.
A MIRACLE IS REQUIRED!!! He’s deteriorating! Outside of the incubator, he is unable to control his body temperature. For his small physique, malnutrition and hypothermia were far too significant. There’s nothing the medical team can do to help him.
Also, it appeared that the prayers and well wishes were effective. Despite the fact that Xavier was still in the woods, his health began to improve as his feathers began to serve him. Veterinarians continued to administer fluids and antibiotics to the patient. Then came another update.
She (veterinarian) sounded hopeful, as if he has a better chance now, which is a plus, and she encouraged the little joe to keep fighting. Guys, this one is weighing heavily on our team and the Mahoning County Dog Warden’s team. It’s difficult for us not to be with him right now. We know he’ll be well cared for in Akron.
